One Year of Forever: Samson’s Anniversary in His Forever Home

One year ago, our lives changed forever when Samson the Siberian Husky came home with us. This month marks Samson’s one-year anniversary in his forever home with Chrissy and Pauley, and it feels like the perfect time to reflect on just how far we’ve all come together.

From the very beginning, Samson settled into family life with his own gentle rhythm, curiosity, and growing confidence. Over the past year, he has shared in so many adventures with us — and taught us just as much as we’ve taught him.

A Year Full of Adventures

Samson has become quite the traveller! He’s explored the UK with us in our motorhome and narrow boat, discovering new places, smells, and sights along the way. Country walks are a firm favourite, especially when there are squirrels to watch and deer to spot. Every walk is an adventure when seen through Samson’s eyes.

At home, life is just as joyful. He loves playing with his red ball in the garden, racing around with pure happiness. In the summer months, we spend long days outside together, enjoying the sunshine, fresh air, and quiet moments that remind us why these simple things matter so much.

Home Is Where the Heart Is

At night, Samson sometimes sleeps in Chrissy and Pauley’s bedroom, where he feels safest and most content. Occasionally, he surprises us by being very brave and sleeping downstairs on the sofa all on his own — a big step for a husky who once struggled with anxiety.

Samson has some special friends to share his new forever home with. His favourites are his beloved Sloth who has been with him since he arrived with us and his latest new friend who arrived at Christmas 'Harold the Hog'.

Pauley and Samson have built a special bond during their morning walks, while Chrissy spends most of her days with him, enjoying afternoon walks and playtime on the local village hall field. Samson truly is at the heart of our daily routine.

Growing in Confidence and Health

This year has also been about growth. Samson attended doggy school, where he learned how to socialise, focus, and build confidence around other dogs. He’s worked hard, lost weight (despite all the sausage and cheese treats!), and is now at a healthy, happy weight — full of energy and life.

Training has been a journey too. When Samson first came home, being left alone was hard for him, and he would howl when we left the house. With consistent reassurance, patience, and lots of love, he’s learned that we always come back. Today, he’s a calmer, less anxious husky who feels secure in his home.

Making Memories Everywhere

Over the past year, Samson has

  • Visited grandma’s houses

  • Walked along beaches

  • Joined us at pubs and cafés

  • Travelled all around the UK

  • Written his first adventure book!

Every experience has helped him grow more confident — and helped us slow down and appreciate life a little more.

Changing Each Other’s Lives

Samson hasn’t just found his forever home — we’ve all changed each other’s lives for the better. He gets us outside every day, come rain or shine, reminding us of the joy of nature, fresh air, and simple moments together.

One year on, we can’t imagine life without him. He has helped to heal our hearts a little after losing our beloved dog Blaze. Samson isn’t just our rescue dog — he’s family, adventure buddy, and the heart of our home.

Here’s to many more years of love, walks, and new adventures together ❤️🐾
